Funds Support Stephen D. Hassenfeld Children's Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders and Department of Pediatrics

"Adults in Toyland Casino Night-Gaming for a Cause" co-chairs Susan Block Casdin, Keri Glassman, Kimberly Goodwin, Morgan Hertzan, Steven Jaffe, Patti Kim, Joshua Laterman, Kelly Kennedy Mack, Harlan Saroken, and Michael Weaver hosted a festive night in a casino setting with a silent auction to benefit the Stephen D. Hassenfeld Children's Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at the NYU Cancer Institute and the Department of Pediatrics at NYU Langone Medical Center on Thursday, November 4, 2010, at The Edison Ballroom in Manhattan. Presented by Caesars Atlantic City, the Hassenfeld and KiDS of NYU Associates Committees, the event attracted over 600 young New York City professionals and included a fun-filled evening of casino games and a premier silent auction to support the programs.

Proceeds from the event will support vital, stress-reducing, integrative-care initiatives, provided regardless of a patient's ability to pay, and clinical research at the Hassenfeld Center, and growth within NYU Langone's Department of Pediatrics. The funds help recruit talented physicians, strengthen important programs, and create the finest facilities for children on NYU Langone's campus.

Those in attendance included: Lori Fink, Janet and Howard Ginsburg, Trudy and Robert Gottesman, Sylvia Hassenfeld, Ken Langone, Amanda and Ned Offit, Ayala and John Podhoretz, Lizzie and Jonathan Tisch, MD, and Peter and Susi Wunsch. LXTV's George Oliphant and Sara Gore gambled the night away-with all winnings going toward the Hassenfeld Center & NYU Langone Department of Pediatrics. Guests were also invited to bid on priceless silent auction items including a table at famed Rao's restaurant, tickets to the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards, and a walk-on role on the CBS hit show How I Met Your Mother.

Attendees also included Robert I. Grossman, MD, dean and CEO of NYU Langone Medical Center and Elisabeth Cohen, MD; William Carroll, MD, director of the NYU Cancer Institute; Catherine Manno, MD, chair, Department of Pediatrics; and physician co-chairs Linda Granowetter, MD, director of the Stephen D. Hassenfeld Children's Center, and Bret Rudy, MD, vice chair and professor, Department of Pediatrics.
