Diagnosis for Cancer and Blood Disorders
Hematologic cancers are diagnosed using a combination of blood tests, tissue biopsies, and/or bone marrow examination. Once a cancer is diagnosed, imaging tests (such as chest X-rays, CT and MRI scans, ultrasound, and PET scans) may be used to see if the cancer has spread to other parts of the body.
Most of these tests are available at the Perlmutter Cancer Center. A few are performed at NYU Medical Center, located just a few blocks away.
