Program activities center on three primary area of investigation: basic immunology, cancer immunotherapy, and mechanisms of lymphocyte transformation. Significant progress in these areas has been made, including:

• Basic immunology: advances in understanding the signaling pathways that control the activity of regulatory T cells (Treg) and immune-suppressive myeloid cells
• Cancer immunotherapy: definition of antigens recognized during the immune response to multiple myeloma, and novel immunotherapy strategies for glioma
• Lymphoid oncogenesis: identification of synergistic drug combinations for the treatment of T-cell lymphoma.

Recruitment of new staff has boosted the clinical bone marrow transplantation program and fortified collaborative research related to multiple myeloma.
